Placing the Pando Twitch extension on your stream

Where does Pando go?

There are three types of Twitch extensions. Pando supports two of them: panel and component. These slots are limited, so picking the right one matters! So where should Pando actually go?

Want to inform your viewers?

Go for a panel placement. This section sits below your stream and even works while you're offline. Informative extensions, like linking your Instagram feed, work great here. There are also more slots available (3 instead of 2), so it's a bit less competitive too.

Want interactions from your viewers?

Set the extension as a component: this is our recommendation. This positions the extension above your stream, but only while you're live. That's also the only time your viewers can interact with it. This works best for extensions that thrive on Bits-in-Extension features.

If you want to learn more about the differences between the two, we covered it in an earlier post:

Could this change in the future?

Yes! Here are a couple of scenarios that could change your decision:

  1. Panel to component: if Twitch increases component slots from 2 to 3, there's more room to go interactive.
  2. Component to panel: if you're "replacing" Bits-in-Extension features with custom Power-Ups instead.

We wrote about what Power-Ups could look like for Pando in our last post:

So the right placement today isn't necessarily the right placement forever, worth revisiting once either of these shifts happens.

Recap

  • Pando supports panel and component placements
  • Panel = informative, works offline, more slots
  • Component = interactive, live-only, our recommendation for Bits-driven features
  • Slots or feature changes (like Power-Ups) could be a good reason to switch later
